First opened in 1986, Atalaya´s Old Course is one of the finest courses on the Costa del Sol. The wide generous fairways undulate gently between mature trees and flowering shrubs providing shade and all year colour. Building on this heritage, we manage a multi-year investment strategy to maintain and improve the presentation and playability of the Old Course. Each year Atalaya hosts a number of professional tournaments, whilst always offering a fair test of golf for players of all levels. Many tournaments have been played at Alcaidesa Links, such as 2 PGA of Andalusia, in 1993 and 1994, 1 PGA of Spain in 1995, The Ryder Cup Junior Match U.S. against Europe in 1997.

Alcaidesa Golf

Alcaidesa Links is the only links course in southern Europe, being an 18 hole, Par 72 course, inaugurated in 1992 and designed by Peter Alliss and Clive Clark. The topography of the land at Alcaidesa is formed by gentle slopes descending towards the sea, finishing on a beautiful beach, creating a front of nearly 2 km. meaning that most of the holes are alongside the beach. The difficulty of the course lies mainly in the condition of the prevailing winds in the area. One of the special features of the course which most impresses visitors, is its spectacular view over the Mediterranean, Gibraltar and Africa. Its total length is 5.866m.

EL Paraiso's greatest appeal is its location. The weather in southern Spain is world renowned, with over 300 days of sunshine every year. Situated 14 Km from Marbella in a valley surrounded by hills with magnificent views of the coast, it was designed with great attention to detail by Gary Player and Kirby. The designers laid out the course to take advantage of the slope of a hill which runs down to the sea. The clubhouse, situated in the middle of the course, is rustic but very popular.

Golf Course

The course has fairways which are quite wide, but you have to attack them quite carefully, because the roughs are dangerous traps. The water hazards play an important role, both for the beauty they add to the course and because of the dangerous streams lying hidden in the roughs. The central holes of the course (the 13th and the 14th) are incredibly beautiful, with their large trees and lakes. Probably the most difficult hole is the 7th, with its green guarded by two enormous bunkers.

The bunkers contain white marble chips and the fairways are sown with Bermuda grass except for certain holes that use Ray grass, while the greens and tees have Penncross. Flamingos Golf has hosted prestigious golf tournaments such as the 2002, 2003 and 2004 European Seniors and the Women’s Spanish Open in 2010.

Our course is an 18 Hole golf course par 72 of approx. 6207 metres in length, set in 138 acres of picturesque parkland. Santana Golf, sympathetically laid out by the architect Cabell B. Robinson, is set in a former avocado plantation which provided a natural solution to many problems. The final result is a magnificent course with wide and well-defined fairways on level terrain, hence easily walkable, where water features play an important albeit not excessive part in the overall design.

In spite of its previous use, the Avocado Tree is not the only tree present here, as many other endemic species like eucalyptus, orange and lemon trees among others, make up the varied vegetation of this beautiful enclave. The cork oaks along the 5th hole deserve special mention, as they have been present here for more than 500 years. The beautiful environment with its natural surrounding will give the golfer the overriding impression of an existing maturity in every aspect of the course. Surrounded by the rivers Ojén and Las Pasadas, and very close to the Mediterranean Sea, our course is set in the Sierra de Mijas Natural Park with breathtaking views of the mountains; perhaps this is the reason why it’s also known as “The Seven Hills Course”.
